The Dumpling and Beyond

In 2016 my husband and I were thrilled to find out that we would have a little dumpling.  In February, 2017 our dumpling made his debut and it's been an incredible adventure.  Two things I have been challenged with are:

 - finding my Mama "tribe" - a community of women who are going through the same journey

- demystifying the endless products and advice to find what was best and right for us

I hope that through these pages I can share what we learned.  In full transparency, we're still figuring it out each day at a  time but being a parent is one of the most incredible, fulfilling things I have ever done in my life...

At home

The list of things you "need" to buy for a tiny human is endless and overwhelming.  Here are a few things that we can't live without.  Note:  this is different for every baby; this is what worked best for us...

Wanderlust

My husband and I were both fortunate to have generous leave to spend bonding with our little guy.  We decided to take advantage of the time and travel for five weeks in Europe.  Everyone told us we were crazy but we knew that with some planning, some flexibility, and a sense of adventure it would all work out.  It was one of the best trips we've ever taken and we were able to introduce our little one to something we love - seeing and learning about the world.  That said, there were a few things that made our trip a little easier...

All the rest...

When you're pregnant and have a child everyone comes out of the woodwork to give you advice.  Random strangers will touch your baby and tell you what they think you should do.  Even your favorite people will tell you what's best...

My dear friend Steve shared the best advice.  He said: "ignore everyone.  do what feels best for you and do what you think is right.  you will be the best parent to your child and everything else is noise."

Parenting is hard.  But it is also unbelievably fun and you learn so much about yourself, your partner, and your tiny human.
